About Us

Tambaram Community Development Society (TCDS)

Our NGO empowers marginalized communities, especially Dalits, by ensuring access to education, livelihood, and dignity, building a just, inclusive society rooted in equality and self-reliance.

The Tambaram Community Development Society (TCDS), established in 1985 by a group of like-minded Dalit social workers, is committed to empowering marginalized communities, especially Dalits, in Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram districts. Guided by a seven-member executive committee including three women—the organization works through participatory processes to ensure justice, equity, and dignity for disadvantaged women and girls. TCDS envisions a society where the oppressed can access education, livelihood opportunities, and self-governance. The mission centers on fostering self-respect and self-reliance among the marginalized. Regular quarterly meetings ensure inclusive decision-making and transparent governance. Through development initiatives, TCDS strives to uplift the poor and provide relief and rehabilitation support.

Our Vision

We foresee a just and equitable society where disadvantaged and dispossessed women and girls, especially from Dalit communities, have access to education, empowerment, and sustainable livelihood opportunities, enabling them to live with dignity, justice, and equality.

Our Mission

Our mission is to foster self-respect, self-esteem, and empowerment among marginalized communities, especially Dalits. We strive to achieve self-reliance and self-governance through participatory and democratic development processes.
